Why Aging is Optional, by Dr. Matt Dawson

OK, so aging itself is not optional. However, the decline in health onset of disease, what we think of as aging, is optional. At least that’s what many leading scientists and physicians believe.

The truth is, turning back your biological clock has been proven to be possible…….kind of. A study published this year in the journal Aging Cell showed a 2.5 year reversal in biologic age compared to controls when using a very specific medication cocktail. To be fair, it’s a very small study, and it’s specifically of the Thymus gland. So, it has to be taken with a grain of salt. If you’re interested in hearing more about it we go over this study specifically on The Wild Health Podcast.

So, take that study for what it’s worth, but this isn’t a new concept. All the hype around compounds like metformin, resveratrol, epitalon, rapamycin, DHEA, NAD, and many more have been about their ability to potentially slow down aging. Many very famous researchers believe we can take this “slowing down” to the extreme of “reversing”. Or at least really, really, really slow it down to dramatically increase our lifespan. In David Sinclair’s book titled “Lifespan” he lays out a compelling argument for this.

So, while it may seem crazy to make a statement like “aging is optional” we believe that science is getting very close to proving this is somewhat true. There will be more and more studies on this in the future, but at Wild Health, we’ve decided to take the current science and run with it. Using the science created by researchers such as Dr. David Sinclair and Dr. Steve Horvath we’ve developed some very specific anti-aging protocols. These protocols use many of the molecules they’ve studied and discovered, but we personalize the protocols to your specific genomics, labs, and goals. We use a test called Trueage, based on the Horvath Clock, to actually measure your biological age and follow along to make sure we’re accomplishing what we’re setting out to accomplish and are data driven and objective.

To be clear, we think the best, most powerful strategy to slowing down aging is optimizing sleep, diet, nutrition, stress levels, etc. But once we’ve achieved that base and solved the big problems, this is the next logical step in our minds.

We may not be able to live forever, but we’re willing to die trying. (sorry, very corny joke.)
