Celery juice has been all the rage lately. You can see this new trend of drinking celery juice flooding Instagram and being promoted by health gurus and Ordinary Joe’s alike. Back in December, New York Times best-selling author of the books Medical Medium and Life-Changing Foods, Anthony Willian, started a worldwide celery juice phenomenon. He began the #CeleryJuiceChallenge on social media, challenging people to drink celery juice every day for a week.

William states that he was born with the ability to converse with the “Spirit of Compassion” who provides him with extremely accurate health information. Celery also has health benefits that have been backed by many scientific studies.

Celery juice contains a wealth of vitamins and minerals including vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, calcium, folate, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, and, of course, water, among others. Celery contains electrolytes, which regulate the amount of fluids in your body keep you hydrated. Celery also can reduce inflammation; its powerful anti-inflammatory effects are due to its phytosterol and unidentified polar substances. It is said to additionally help reduce blood pressure and fight against oxidative stress, according to studies. While whole celery also contains these benefits, when celery, and really any vegetable or fruit, is broken down by juicing, it can be easier to digest because your body can absorb the nutrients of juice better, and it gives your digestive system a rest from working on any fiber.
