Happy and Healthy Holidays from BB&R!
Dear Friends, It's the most wonderful time of the year....Happy Holidays!
We don't know about you, but the first thought that comes to mind when we think of the Christmas season has to be.... the endless amounts of scrumptious Christmas treats! From sugary gingerbread cookies at your annual cookie exchange, to grandma's famous double chocolate fudge on Christmas Eve, we understand that the holidays often mean indulging. And that's okay! However, BB&R wants you to add a different sense of indulgence to your holiday to do list this year.
Instead of "over-indulging" in holiday goodies, focus on "over-indulging" in feeding your soul! We challenge you to take inventory of the things that truly nurture your soul. What soothes you, comforts you, or renews you? What's the "chicken soup" your soul craves?
This is about more than just things you enjoy doing, or ways that you relax. It's about the things that really and truly feed your spirit. The things that fill you up, recharge your batteries, give you perspective, and make you feel whole.
Here is what some of our BB&R team members plan on doing this holiday season to feed their souls:
: I am spending some one on one time with each of my children to enjoy and appreciate their individual gifts and qualities
: I am carving out time to purposefully be grateful for things big and small
: I am reading to my grandchildren and cherishing quiet moments with them
Some other ideas....
Small outings with friends (one-on-one or a group of three...large gatherings can be draining)
A quality journaling session
A warm cappuccino to sip and a moment to sit still and pray
A run (it's been far too long...)
Wearing clothes that make us feel cozy, relaxed, or put-together
Vacations in the mountains
Your soul food doesn't have to be complex - keep it simple. Focus on the little things day to day and tackle the big endeavors when you have more time. Make sure you have a "bowl of soup" on the regular - don't wait so long that your soul is malnourished. Make this the most joyous holiday yet by knowing yourself and keeping up with your needs.
What feeds your soul?
Wishing you the happiest and healthiest holiday season filled with family, friends, laughter and love!
