Quotes:

I've always understood that there's a huge connection between what I eat and how I feel. Amanda Haas

Show Notes:

Amanda Haas: I started taking classes at night, cooking classes. I'd save all my money for my little paycheck and take classes, and I just realized it was truly my passion.

Amanda Haas: I finally decided to dig in from a culinary perspective and start looking at what I was eating and try to connect the dots between what I was eating and how I was feeling.

Amanda Haas: I understand now that food is one of the most important vehicles for improving our well-being.

Amanda Haas: I went from being always highly allergic to having horrible stomach pains and chronic heartburn.

Amanda Haas: This is gluten in your life making you sick.

Amanda Haas: Gluten wasn't the only problem I was having, and I've since had some other problems come up. But what it allowed me to do was identify the things that were making me feel awful.

Amanda Haas: Why suddenly is everybody gluten intolerant or allergic to gluten? And we're consuming probably 10 times more than the average American diet, even 60-70 years ago.

Amanda Haas: A lot of people have a problem with gluten, have a problem with dairy as well.

Amanda Haas: In the Anti Inflammation Cookbook, I had a doctor validate everything.

Amanda Haas: I looked outside and I saw my Traeger grill, which I was obsessed with.

Amanda Haas: It uses wood pellets to generate the heat in the grill so it's basically like an outdoor convection oven that just adds this amazing flavor to everything you make.

Amanda Haas: I just get to go about my business and Traeger fits into it so well that I have to pinch myself every time I'm with them or go do something really fun with them.

Amanda Haas: I have over 70, maybe seventy five recipes on their website that I've developed, ranging from cookies and coconut oil brownies to the most amazing roasted cauliflower.

Amanda Haas: Sandwiched between the recipe chapters are these beautiful chapters on things like yoga and meditation. We have a sex and relationships chapter, which is absolutely hysterical with one of my favorite women on Earth, Dr. Pepper Schwartz.

Amanda Haas: The last time you want to be making dinner is at the dinner hour.

Amanda Haas: I started to get smart about what I was cooking (and when) during the week, and I just said to myself, I'm going to the store one time a week and I stuck to it.

Amanda Haas: When you plan ahead and you actually make a list, you waste so much less food.

Amanda Haas: My friends who are the best chefs all use induction. It's the most accurate way.

Amanda Haas: January is a great time to take stock and take great care of ourselves. But instead of being so punishing about it, why don't I just share recipes and great learnings.

Amanda Haas: A kinder, gentler way to ease into this new year and think about how we want to take care of ourselves.
